Salami Loaf
730 Project - 12.18.11. Steff. At home. Leftover salami loaf with water crackers.
So, when I was little my mom used to make this thing called "Salami Loaf" at the holidays. It's a dish for noshing on (like a dip) that you cut into, take a wedge, and plop it on a Chicken in a Biskit cracker (a very serious mouthgasm).
While I don't "miss" much from my pre-vegetarian life, this is one of those things that makes me nostalgic: it reminds me of many good childhood Christmases.
I thought I would try and recreate it vegan style, settled upon the fact that it would not taste like the real thing and may even taste disgusting. But I had to know if it was possible.
And, ooh babeh . . . it was STILL a mouthgasm.
Salami Loaf
(for carnivores or herbivores)
Ingredients
- Package of salami
- Tub of cream cheese
- Green olives
- Crackers
Directions
Mix some of the juice of the green olives and the tub of cream cheese together. Smear some of the cream cheese concoction on a plate, place a piece of salami on top of that. Repeat process until you've run out of salami. Then cover the whole thing in the cream cheese concoction like you're icing a cake. Cut green olives in half and place on top and sides of "Salami Loaf."
Chill. Eat (with a cracker). Love.
